Oklahoma 2A Cross Country Final Rankings 2016: Lomega-Ringwood's Boys Stun Hooker

The October 2016 2A polls split the difference: the girls’ ballot nailed it, the boys’ ballot face-planted. Warner’s girls did exactly what the poll said. Hooker’s boys were supposed to win — and Lomega-Ringwood had other plans, winning the program’s first title of the decade’s second half behind a three-peat individual champion.

Girls’ poll, October 9th: Warner, Hooker, Regent Prep, Cordell, Cashion. State: Warner 57, Hooker 82. The poll’s 1-2 held in order, 25 points apart. Clean, professional, correct.

Boys’ poll, October 10th: Hooker, Mooreland, Lomega-Ringwood, Oaks Hill, Carnegie. State: Lomega-Ringwood 56, Hooker 70. The champion was the poll’s No. 3 — a 14-point upset over the poll’s No. 1. Not a blowout, but a clear statement: the ballot is not the race.

Regent Prep’s Ellie Gilbreath won the girls’ individual title — her second straight 2A crown; Lomega-Ringwood’s Isai Rodriguez won the boys’ title — his THIRD straight (2014–2016).

Hooker’s boys were the poll’s No. 1 and finished second — while Isai Rodriguez won his third straight individual crown. Polls qualify nobody; legs qualify everybody.
