Oklahoma 3A Cross Country Final Rankings 2016: Marietta Sweeps

The October 16th, 2016 3A polls had Marietta on top of both sides, and the state meet turned both predictions into demolitions. Thirty-six points for the girls, thirty-eight for the boys — combined 74 points across two races, which is the kind of program-wide dominance that makes the rest of 3A check the enrollment numbers.
Girls’ poll, October 16th: Marietta, Prague, Sequoyah Tahlequah, Adair, Marlow. State: Marietta 36, Prague 130. The poll’s 1-2 held in order — separated by 94 points. Ninety-four. The ballot predicted the winner; it did not predict the scale of the beating.
Boys’ poll, October 16th: Marietta, Holland Hall, Sequoyah Tahlequah, Marlow, Chisholm. State: Marietta 38, Holland Hall 105. Same script: the 1-2 held, the margin was 67 points, and the poll kept its dignity while the meet kept the trophies.
Heavener’s Barbara Johnson won the girls’ individual title; Marietta’s Zane Nutter won the boys’ crown — the dynasty’s frontman in a dynasty year.
Marietta’s girls scored 36, the boys 38 — the polls called the sweep, the meet delivered the rout, and 3A spent the winter thinking about 2017.
